Stari Grad’s 2400th birthday was a really good party over several days with lots going on and a great atmosphere. Sadly, I failed to take my camera along to the evening event as I didn’t realize it would be so spectacular, but I do have a few taken with my phone. I loved the way the harbour was turned into a sound and light stage, with sweeping spotlights picking out the sails to the music from the Pirates of the Caribbean! What a great bit of theatre!
Displayed on the quayside was a magnificent sculpture of a galley, made from stone, rope and sailcloth. After dark, the lighting gave it a rather ghostly appearance! Unfortunately I didn’t see who made it, and where it might normally be on display.
