Most people go to the beach to lie around, have a swim and get a tan. For the locals of all ages, it’s nice and cool in the water to hang out and chat with your friends. Me, I take my paints to the beach. After a swim to cool down, I park myself on a convenient rock, preferably in the shade and arrange my travelling watercolour kit.

Rocks on the beach (Watercolour 10 x 15cm)
Since we walk to the beach, it’s usually a tiny paintbox and postcard-sized paper! I’ll be happily absorbed for hours trying to capture the rocks and the water, and anything else that catches my eye. If I like a view enough, I’ll try it again back in my studio, maybe this time in acrylics, like these two views of Maslinica Cove below.
